News Bystronic's Solarbration - A Commitment to Sustainability
Advancing sustainability for sheet metal and beyond.
As part of our long-term commitment to sustainability and responsible manufacturing, Bystronic is proud to announce the successful installation of a rooftop solar array at our United States Headquarters in Hoffman Estates. This system includes 2,708 solar modules, designed to generate over 55.5 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy over the next 30 years. The environmental impact of this initiative is equivalent to:
- Avoiding 39,334 metric tons of CO₂ emissions
- Removing 8,475 cars from the road for one year
- Planting nearly 654,000 tree seedlings.
This project reflects our broader mission to enable smart factories, efficient material use, and lower-emission operations throughout our global footprint. As outlined in our Sustainability Strategy, we strive to integrate renewable energy solutions into our operations and to lead by example in the sheet metal processing industry.
The installation was made possible through the expertise and collaboration of two key partners. Verde Solutions, a national energy efficiency and renewable energy design-build firm, provided engineering and project management. Their integrated approach ensures systems are both environmentally impactful and economically viable. Onyx Renewables, a leading provider of clean energy infrastructure, supported the development and financing of the solar array, enabling long-term energy savings and operational resilience.
To commemorate this achievement, Bystronic hosted a “Solarbration” event with representatives from Verde Solutions, Onyx Renewables, the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce, the Fire Chief, and the Mayor of Hoffman Estates.
This installation marks a major milestone in our journey toward carbon neutrality and reflects our continued investment in sustainable manufacturing practices. We remain committed to delivering innovative solutions with minimal environmental impact—for our customers, our communities, and future generations.
