Alex Waser has been CEO of the Bystronic Group since April 2013. From 2010 until joining the Conzzeta Group, Alex Waser worked at Ecolab Europe GmbH in Wallisellen, Switzerland, the European subsidiary of Ecolab, a US supplier of system solutions for the food processing industry. From 1994 to 2010 he worked for the SPX Group, a worldwide supplier of workshop equipment and diagnostic systems for the automotive industry. During this time he held various management positions in Europe and the US, finally as President of Service Solutions of SPX Europe GmbH in Hainburg (Germany), in charge of the Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions.
Johan Elster has been President of Business Unit Markets since January 2013. In this position he is responsible for all markets except China. Johan Elster joined Bystronic in October 1996 as Managing Director of Bystronic Scandinavia. From 2007 to 2008 he held the position of Head of Market Region Northern Europe and from 2009 to 2012 of President of Market Division NAFTA and Europe North. Before joining Bystronic, Johan Elster was Commissioning and Start-up Manager at Ems Inventa AG. Johan Elster has more than 20 years of experience in sales and service in the sheet metal industry.
Dr. Song You joined Bystronic as Representative Director and President of Bystronic China in March 2016. He is responsible for sales, services, marketing, R&D, business development, and for production in China. Before joining Bystronic, Song You held various management positions with the Delphi Corporation and the SPX Corporation in the US and China, most recently as Vice President of the SPX Corporation in charge of the Asia Pacific region. He has an outstanding track record with responsibilities ranging from engineering and R&D to operations, from sales and markets to general management.
Marco Vinanti has been Managing Director of Bystronic Laser AG since February 2015. In this capacity, he is responsible for the Niederönz business location and leads the Competence Center Cutting. He joined Bystronic in November 2010 as Head of Production. Prior to this, he held various management positions in a number of industries, such as power tools, medical devices, and mechanical engineering. His fields of expertise cover production, logistics, purchasing, and product management.
Sven Künkels has been Chief Operations Officer since May 2015. In this role, he is responsible for lean manufacturing, quality, the supply chain, and purchasing. In addition, he has held the position of Managing Director of Bystronic Maschinenbau GmbH and leads the Competence Center Bending in Gotha since October 2003. Sven Künkels joined Bystronic as Technical Manager in January 2001 and worked as Technical Managing Director from August 2001. Prior to joining Bystronic, he was Operations Manager at Benthin AG. Before that he held various management positions at AUTOKRAFT GmbH and OTN Oberflächentechnik GmbH.
Agostino Zanella has been Head of the Competence Center Automation since January 2020. In this capacity, he is responsible for the three business locations (Sulgen, Niederönz, San Giuliano Milanese) that constitute the Competence Center. He joined Antil S.p.A. (Member of Bystronic) in 2008 and has been CEO of the company since 2018. During his many years as Head of R&D, he successfully established an automation portfolio with a strong focus on modularity, customer orientation, and innovation.
Alberto Martinez has been leading the Competence Center Software Services since September 2018. As Chief Digital Officer (CDO), he is also responsible for digital transformation at Bystronic. Prior to joining Bystronic, Alberto Martinez worked as a software specialist at Lantek, starting as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and most recently as CEO from 2004 to 2018. He has profound knowledge of the sheet metal processing industry and over 20 years of experience in the field of software.
Cornelia Gehrig, Group CFO, has been responsible for finances and IT at Group level since joining Bystronic in August 2011. Before taking up work with Bystronic, she held various positions in a number of fields, such as audit and business consulting, insurance, plant construction, telecommunications, as well as in global management.
Nicole Progin has been in charge of Global Human Resources at Group level since May 2013. Prior to joining Bystronic, she held various HR management positions in different industries such as logistics automation, healthcare, and IT, most recently as Head of Human Resources EMEA at Swisslog AG in Buchs (Switzerland). Nicole Progin holds a degree in business administration and has completed a number of advanced training courses in the field of HR.
Dr. Christoph Rüttimann has been Chief Technology Officer (CTO) since November 2017. In this position, he is responsible for Bystronic’s global development activities. Prior to joining Bystronic, he was Head of Customer Application and Head of Research & Development at ROFIN-LASAG AG. In his most recent position, he was Head of Research & Development at TRUMPF Schweiz AG. With more than ten years of experience, Christoph Rüttimann has excellent knowledge of the engineering and laser technology sectors.
Dr. Monika Zihlmann has been Head of Global Marketing & Product Management since April 2019. Prior to joining Bystronic, she held various commercial positions throughout German-speaking Europe at Johnson and Johnson Medical and was responsible for the international product management of digital services at BMW in Munich. In her most recent position, she was responsible for the business transformation of digital services at Sonova AG. She has more than 10 years of experience with marketing and sales, customer experience, business transformation, and business model innovation.
Jean-Pierre Neuhaus, Group CCO, has been leading the worldwide Corporate and Marketing Communications activities for the entire Bystronic Group since 2003. Prior to joining Bystronic, he held various positions in the field of communications at the Swiss telecommunications group Ascom. He has more than 30 years of experience in brand management, corporate architecture, corporate communications, and public relations, both at strategic and operational levels.
