News Bystronic Scandinavia hosted immersive Open House focused on innovation and industry Know-How
The event brought together professionals from the sheet metal industry
Participants had travelled from across Sweden and even from Finland. Attendees had the opportunity to explore a wide range of solutions aimed at improving sheet metal processing. The program covered not only upcoming machine innovations but also practical insights into handling high-strength steels and mastering real-time production management.

Bending automation
Automation was another highlight of the event. Visitors were introduced to the flexibility of the ByBend Star press brakes combined with a mobile bending robot solution (MBR). This system allows operators to switch easily between manual and automated bending processes, delivering both efficiency and adaptability.
Thomas Plath demonstrated the mobility and ease of use of the MBR, showing how automation can be integrated seamlessly into existing workflows.
A glimpse into the future
Several presentations offered a glimpse into the future of sheet metal processing. While tube laser technology itself is not new, a presentation by Gaetano Fascietta introduced a next-generation solution that captured significant interest.

The new tube laser attracted strong attention thanks to its advanced capabilities, including simplified bulk loading as well as integrated laser scanning systems and cameras that ensure full process reliability.
Bystronic End-to-End Solution
The event also focused on complete production workflows. Chris Waters from Bystronic presented the “End-to-End Solution,” describing a seamless process from quotation to final product delivery. His session provided valuable insights into how manufacturers can achieve a smooth, efficient, and intelligent production flow using the BySoft Suite.
Bystronic and SSAB share a common goal and collaborate closely to support the industry in managing complex production challenges. One key topic was the bending of high-strength steels such as Hardox and Armox—materials known for their demanding properties.
Thomas Müller, Head of Product Development at SSAB, and bending specialist Chelsie Dickson presented research-driven insights into handling these materials effectively during the bending process.
The knowledge about the material in the steel and the tools used to bend it are the key in how to manage the quest, and the people at SSAB are world leading in that field.
Participants followed the session closely as Chelsie shared practical recommendations for successful bending.

The Open House also reflected the international nature of Bystronic. Representatives from multiple countries attended the event, including Thomas Plath from Denmark, Wilfried Liegard from Switzerland, and Ville Virta from Finland, all of whom enjoyed a full day of innovation, networking, and knowledge sharing in Rosersberg.
The event was a great success, and plans are already underway for next year's Open House.
