News New Bystronic subsidiary inaugurated in China
At the end of April, Bystronic Shanghai was able to dedicate the new office building including a large Experience Center with an area of over 5,000 square meters, followed by a Competence Day. This is an important milestone for us that brings us closer to our customers.
Opening ceremony with illustrious representatives
Participants in the grand opening of the new Experience Center included Swiss as well as Chinese authorities and government representatives, in addition to Bystronic management: Song You (President China Region at Bystronic), Alex Waser (current CEO of the Bystronic Group), and Domenico Iacovelli (future CEO of the Bystronic Group), together with Sacha Bachmann (Consul General of Switzerland in Shanghai), Miaomiao Dong (Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Management Department, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce), Zi Li and Yanzhi Zhang (government representatives).
Along with a tour of the new building, which is over 5,000 square meters in size, the ribbon cutting ceremony was a particular highlight. On behalf of Alex Waser and Domenico Iacovelli, the new space was honored with a special gift: a cowbell. The cowbell, a typical icon of Swiss culture with several hundred years of history, has become a widespread symbol of cheerleading over time.
In his address, Alex Waser made reference to Bystronic’s significance as an innovative enterprise: “Bystronic has entered an entirely new phase of development in China. The expansion shows our progress and is a great milestone in our company’s development,” he said.
“In 2024, the global market for sheet metal processing is exhibiting consistent growth, but the sector still faces many challenges in a difficult market environment. As a leading company in world-class production, Bystronic China will continue to offer quality products and services at Swiss standards that meet customer expectations. We are engaged in groundbreaking innovations and are searching for new solutions and software to improve the sustainability, profitability, and efficiency of our customers. ”
Domenico Iacovelli, designated CEO of Bystronic
Sacha Bachmann, Consul General of Switzerland in Shanghai, noted the investment and active engagement of Swiss companies in the Chinese market: "Switzerland maintains an impressive economic presence in the Yangtze Delta region. Last year, I had the privilege of witnessing ten openings of new facilities for Swiss companies in the Delta. I wish Bystronic continued success in China and elsewhere in the world."
Highly regarded Competence Day
Following the opening ceremony was a Competence Day for customers with numerous attendees. Through product presentations, they were able to discover the latest production systems, software applications, and services related to sheet metal processing. The new Experience Center was met with great interest.
In addition, customers had the opportunity to visit our Competence Center Automation Shanghai. They were very interested in loading and unloading systems connected with laser machines as well as Bystronic’s material storage system with multiple rows. Although there are many providers of automation systems in China, Bystronic is the only manufacturer that produces and offers a complete package of solutions in China.
