The Xact Smart is the press brake for a quick entry into bending. From the very onset, Bystronic designed this machine tool to offer a performance package with intelligent functions that enable users to produce parts cost-effectively and in high quality. Now Bystronic is presenting the next generation of the press brake. Primarily, it astonishes thanks to its numerous additional functions. Now, the Xact Smart is more versatile for an even wider range of applications. And the Xact Smart is faster. This makes it interesting for all those sheet metal processing companies for which time is a crucial factor in the day-to-day competition for orders.
One of the new additional functions is the Xact Smart’s insert extension and stroke length expansion. When purchasing a new machine, users who want to increase their bending spectrum choose this option. With this upgrade, Bystronic extends the basic version’s 480 millimeter insert height for bending tools to 580 millimeters. 100 millimeters more space means as much as a 30 percent increase in flexibility. This means that higher tools can now be used with the Xact Smart and enables users to produce parts with lower bending edges. This is particularly useful, for example, when bending boxes and drawers.
Another new feature is the five-axis backgauge. Until now, users had the choice between a two-axis and a four-axis backgauge system. Furthermore, Bystronic has redesigned all the backgauge systems that are available for the Xact Smart. The newly designed systems are faster and thus increase the speed of the bending sequences. Users who choose the five-axis system can now also use the Xact Smart to be bend complex 3D parts. The basic version of the Xact Smart has a two-axis backgauge system.
In addition to a wide spectrum of applications, fast bending sequences and short manufacturing cycles frequently play an important role for users. For these users, increasing the process speeds and shortening the set-up times is very important. This is precisely what Bystronic offers with its range of high-speed options for the Xact Smart.
Upon request, higher-performance mechanics are available that enable the Xact Smart’s upper beam to move at higher speeds during the rapid movement and bending phases. The high-speed options also include a newly developed laser safety system. This allows the upper beam to approach almost all the way to the part that is being processed at the rapid movement speed. The high-precision laser sensor allows the Xact Smart’s control to reduce the upper beam’s speed from up to 200 millimeters per second (rapid movement speed) to 16 millimeters per second (bending speed) just before reaching the metal sheet. The laser safety system functions like an intelligent brake assistant that permits the machine to move at a higher speed for longer. This offers users a speed advantage of up to 30 percent.
The RF-A Pro fast clamping system for bending tools is also available as a high-speed option. Upon request, this system replaces the basic version’s mechanical clamping system. The RF-A Pro system increases the process speed of the Xact Smart, particularly for bending jobs that require frequent tool changes. This enables operators to quickly and correctly insert tools.
The special Bystronic crowning ensures high-precision air bending results. This unique assistant function is only available in this form with press brakes from Bystronic. Thanks to its sensor system, the Xact Smart’s crowning recognizes the position and length of the sheet metal part. This sensor system is integrated directly into the ByVision Bending control. This enables the Xact Smart to automatically control the ideal distribution of the bending force across the entire bending length without requiring the operator to deal with complicated details. This results in precise and consistent angles with every bend.
