Bystronic is committed to sustainability in its entrepreneurial thinking and actions. Environmentally conscious processes and social engagement play a key role in this.
Be it the promotion of talents, support for
research projects on rare diseases, or within the framework of sponsoring
activities at universities – Bystronic is involved in a wide range of projects
around the globe.
Whether it be pupils, students, young professionals, or managers – Bystronic promotes talents at all levels with a wide variety of education and further training opportunities. The “Young Professionals” exchange project, for example, offers graduated apprentices the opportunity to gain experience abroad at Bystronic’s production location in Tianjin.
Since the end of 2016, Bystronic Maschinenbau GmbH has been a premium partner of Team Starcraft – a group of approximately 70 students from the Ilmenau Technical University who are designing and constructing a racing car for the Formula Student Germany competition.
Bystronic is committed to clean energy and energy efficiency. Bystronic’s systems are not only energy-efficient because they use as little electricity as possible, but also because they are built using recyclable materials or because they apply sophisticated nesting techniques to make optimal use of the raw materials. Moreover, Bystronic develops machines with low noise and odor emissions and ensures that the workplaces on the machines are ergonomically designed.

To ensure that its paintshop does not produce any hazardous waste, Bystronic’s production location in Gotha uses a distillation system that separates the solvent from the flushed out paint. The solvent can be reused and the paint can be disposed of like normal household waste.
Additionally, before the manufactured parts enter the paintshop in Gotha, they pass through a completely new type of washing system that uses biodegradable detergents.

In spite of the expansion of the production area in Gotha by almost 10,000 square meters, the energy consumption of the production halls has remained the same thanks to insulated roofs and efficient heating.
Thanks to the Energy Saver, the main motor of the Xpert press brake is started only when the machine is bending. This means that the Xpert consumes up to 60 percent less electricity. Bystronic Maschinenbau GmbH was awarded the Blue Competence label for the Energy Saver.
In Niederönz, parts of the office building are heated by lasers, and LEDs are used for the lighting of the production halls. The result: Less waste, less maintenance, three times lower electricity consumption, and at least the same level of lighting quality.
Since January 1, 2011, Bystronic Laser AG has exclusively been using ecologically generated electricity. However, Bystronic’s focus on clean energy is not limited to its production processes: The green areas around the business location are also strictly organic.
