In just a few weeks, two apprentices from Bystronic Laser AG will travel to Japan.
With the "Young People Program @ JIMTOF" Swissmem's specialist group "Machine tools and manufacturing technology" invites budding professionals on a ten-day visit to Japan from 28 October to 8 November 2014. Apprentices and students from universities and universities of applied sciences from the field of mechanical engineering from all over Switzerland were eligible to apply for the program. The two Bystronic apprentices Christian Küenzi (second-year poly-mechanics) and Nicolas Zaugg (third-year electronics) made it into the final selection. They are two amongst a total of 22 participants.
The highlight of the excursion to Japan is a visit to JIMTOF in Tokyo. JIMTOF is the largest machine tool exhibition in Japan. In addition, the participants will visit the machine tool manufacturers DMG Mori and Okuma. They will also visit the Kyoto University and the Keio University in Tokyo. There, the participants will take a tour of the mechanical engineering laboratories.
With the ten-day excursion, Swissmem is promoting
inter-cultural education and exchange between young professionals from
Japan and Switzerland. "We are delighted about the participation of our
apprentices and look forward to hearing about the impressions Christian
and Nicolas bring back from Japan," says Roland Wyler, Head of
Apprenticeship Training at Bystronic Laser AG.
